Creative Director

Job description

The E-Commerce Creative Director has broad oversight over creative design concepts, projects, and workflows. You’ll direct multiple projects to completion, providing the resources and even-keeled management your team needs to consistently deliver strong work. You’ll be a process improvement specialist, constantly vigilant for efficiency boosts or opportunities to drive beneficial collaboration between User Experience and Technology specialists on your team. The Creative Director partners closely with Brand Marketing, Ecommerce, Digital Product, Merchandising, Retail, and Business leaders to develop creative programs and design concepts that meet the business objectives of the organization and advance our Brand strategy. The ideal candidate will have a natural eye for design and a drive to inspire dynamic ideas that connect with all types of audiences.


Objectives of this Role

  • The E-Commerce Creative Director will develop and deliver thought leadership and creative solutions in service to the AJ Madison’s brand
  • Drive and refine how we communicate our brand mission, personality, point of view and value proposition to consumers
  • Develop the strategy and design guidelines for AJ Madison that can be translated across channel (Retail, Website and Digital Marketing) to ensure globally consistency and relevance.
  • Foster a culture of innovation in all phases of creative work, from concept through production
  • Spearhead and manage content strategy for both small-scale and large-scale projects, harnessing strategy, digital and brand design, compelling content, and technology
  • Develop internal marketing campaigns that translate marketing objectives across business units into clear and motivating creative strategies
  • Analyze brand tracking, market trends, consumer need, and the competitive landscape
  • Use behavioral data and insights to inform and influence the customer journey and experience, ultimately leading to increased engagement and conversion
  • Meet budget standards by forecasting and managing expenses


  • The E-Commerce Creative Director will have proven track record of creative leadership with extensive experience in marketing, advertising, e-commerce and/or interactive design
  • Thorough grounding in user experience design, brand development, and digital marketing
  • Interest in and knowledge of new platforms and digital technologies
  • Strong ability to provide clear creative direction with timely, supportive feedback
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience succeeding in a fast-paced growth environment involving time-sensitive, complex projects
  • Understanding and experience in creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, paid media, mobile, but also understand offline and print
  • Proven experience with concept development
  • Highly skilled with leading a team of creative talent
  • Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives
  • Ability to sketch out designs by hand or computer
  • Be of exemplary moral and ethical character

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in marketing or business
  • Prior experience with copywriting, design, or production
  • Prior project management experience, with a focus on creative direction
